Christine's new work comprises a series of rich oil paintings and dramatic charcoal drawings depicting eagles, hawks and other birds of prey. These large works on canvas up to 2 metres in size, capture the sheer power, movement and glorious plumage of the birds. The paint is built up in layers, creating a thickly encrusted surface which is plastered, gouged and drawn into with brush and palette knife, resulting in defiantly contemporary work. The effect is electrifying, the birds hyper-real, fizzling with energy and attitude, and both compelling and demanding for the viewer.
